Welcome to the Xiaomi Piston Review. There are hundreds of different earphones on the market, sometimes you can’t even make a decision on which one to get. We tend to look at multiple factors, like the build quality, the bass, the durability and the price you have to pay. I picked up the Xiaomi Piston Fresh Edition from Banggood. I have had a good experience with Xiaomi products as I am using the Xiaomi Redmi 4x smartphone myself. They are a reliable company with many known and high quality products. This was a major reason for me to get one of their earphones and test it out.
About The Xiaomi Piston
In the Xiaomi Piston Review I will cover the significant points of this earphone. The Xiaomi Piston comes in two editions, the Fresh Edition and the Basic Edition of which the Fresh Edition is slightly more expensive. I’ve got the Fresh Edition but the difference is not too big other than the cable type and length. It is a 3.5 mm jack in-ear headphone with a microphone and a pause/play button for media or picking up calls. In the little package of the earphones you get extra ear tips, a manual (which was written in Chinese) even though using earphones is actually quite straightforward and of course you also get the Xiaomi Piston earphones. My first impression was that the cable was not flat which is actually unhandy because it easily entangles. This is a feature that the Basic Edition actually does have. The Xiaomi Piston comes in a variety of colors which are cyan blue, black, white, silver, pink and purple. I went for the black ones and the material of the earphone itself makes it feel like a really premium product with the nice matte black scratch-resistant iron finishing.
Now of course one of the most important aspects of earphones is how they sound. I try out earphones by listening to different music styles like from the 80s and high bass songs. For a $5 (prices can fluctuate) earphone the Xiaomi Piston performed really well. The bass was great and it did well at catching the highs and lows of a song. The songs also sounded really crisp and it does a fairly good job at isolating external sounds.
As for the inbuilt microphone it’s pretty straight forward. It sounds okay when calling, the receiver would be able to understand you without difficulty. I also like the fact that the microphone is higher up in the wire. In this way the microphone is almost directly at your mouth so that you won’t need to lift it up to be able to speak in to it. At the part of the microphone there is also a handy button to pause and play video’s or pick up phone calls.
If you are looking for a well-sounding budget earphone with good bass, I would definitely recommend the Xiaomi Piston earphone. They are good for temporary use and are affordable. As a result you won’t need to be too bothered about losing or damaging your earphones. I hope my Xiaomi Piston Review could help you decide what budget earphone to buy.
